Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday for many people. Maybe it's the turkey and all the "fixings," or just the chance to enjoy a meal with family and friends. Either way, there's enough to do around Fairfield County to make you crave mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of cranberry sauce long before the big day arrives.

Then, while you're digesting your turkey, take the kids to the Day after Thanksgiving Movies for Kids on November 25: 10:30am, Winnie the Pooh; 2pm, The Lion King. All events are FREE.

Nothing says "Thanksgiving tradition" like a parade. The UBS Parade Spectacular offers one of the largest helium balloon parades in the country, with marching bands, floats, and, of course, some familiar characters floating down the street. November 20. 12pm. FREE.

Legend has it that the first Thanksgiving was eaten with the Native Americans. Celebrate their culture in Native American Days at the Museum, an exhibit capturing the heritage, art, and culture of the earliest North American residents. The Cat in the Hat Sings
Everybody's favorite cat comes to life on stage in Seussical the Musical. Children will delight in seeing Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie, Jojo, and other Seuss characters in this production by the Lighthouse Youth Theatre. November 20. 2pm and 6pm. $25; $20 children.

Lego Choo Choo
Train and Lego buffs should make their way to All Aboard with Bill Probert and Friends II, the newest exhibition at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. Bill Probert, with assistance from some Lego clubs, has created a 365-square-foot Lego train environment that takes over the museum's Leonhardt Gallery. On view November 12-January 2, 2012. Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm; Sunday 11am-5pm. $10; $5 age 4-17; free ages 3 and younger.
