Dickens on Stage

Oliver!, the heartwarming story of a tough-as-nails orphan boy, is one of Charles Dickens’ most memorable works. To celebrate the beloved author’s 200th birthday, Theatre by the Bay will feature seven performances of Oliver! this month, with children from Queens and Long Island comprising half of the 50-member cast. The theater is also hosting a food drive and encourages audience members to bring non-perishable food items to the show to be donated to City Harvest. Saturdays and Sundays, March 3-25, 3pm and 8:30pm. Each Sunday matinee performance will be followed by a Q&A session with the cast.

The Magic of Learning

The Magic School Bus’s Ms. Frizzle and her students are learning about global warming, and they want you to join the adventure. The students need some cold, hard facts, and the Friz and her reptilian sidekick Liz know just where to find them. Join them in The Magic School Bus – Live! for a whirlwind musical tour from the Arctic to the equator. See telltale signs of climate change and learn how conservation, recycling, and alternative energy can make a difference. Recommended for ages 5-8.

The Circus Returns

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Dragons brings together circus performers from the farthest reaches of the earth to celebrate the Chinese New Year through astonishing acts of athleticism. The show includes Shaolin Kung Fu Warriors, charging Cossack riders, magnificent Asian elephants, fierce tigers, and frenzied feats in the Globe of Steel, all of which will pay tribute to the dragon. The show opens with an all-access preshow (available to all ticket holders), where families can join host Andre McClain to learn juggling and balancing skills, get performer autographs, see one of the Ringling Bros.’s Asian elephant’s paint a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, and meet the Ringling Bros. clowns.
