Westchester's Ridge Hill Offers Shopping, Dining, Entertainment, and Luxury Living in Yonkers

Westchester's Ridge Hill, the new mixed-use community in Yonkers, has become a shopping and dining destination for families. The development also features the luxury condominium complex Monarch at Ridge Hill, now open for sales, which offers eco-friendly residential living.

Westchester's Ridge Hill, a new mixed-use community in Yonkers, features an "urban village" full of shopping, dining, and entertainment for families.

Billed as the "first retail experience of its kind" in the region, Ridge Hill will debut retail stores like GAP, H&M, Dick's Sporting Goods, L.L. Bean, Sephora, and Yankee Candle this fall, with more store additions planned for 2012 (including Lord & Taylor). Specialty boutiques like Republic of Couture and Orvis will also be among the mix. The self-contained, pedestrian-friendly community will also include brand-name dining spots like Texas de Brazil, Brio Tuscan Grille, The Cheesecake Factory, and Yard House. In all, the community will encompass 12 blocks of premium retailers, restaurants, and grocers, including Whole Foods (opening in September).

Set on 81 acres in Yonkers, between the New York State Thruway and Sprain Brook Parkway, Ridge Hill offers more than a retail experience to visitors and residents. Outdoor furniture and fountains encourage families to stroll and relax in an "urban oasis" setting. A charming village green will host regular evening entertainment, and the area includes a children's play area, water park, and a 12-screen Cinema de Lux movie theater.

Ridge Hill's Green Lifestyle

If you're in the market for a new home for your growing family and all of the above sounds like an area you'd like to visit often, Monarch at Ridge Hill could be the right development for you. This luxury condominium building, which will comprise four high-rise towers, is geared toward eco-friendly residential living. Under the building's philosophy of "new urbanism," it will encourage residents to lead a green lifestyle, in which their daily needs are met within walking distance of their homes (read: the 12 blocks of retailers, restaurants, grocers, and entertainment mentioned above, including medical services, all of which are just feet away from the building's front doors).

Inside the condominium, residents have access to resort-style amenities like the Monarch Atrium, which features 25,000 square feet of communal space that will offer a host of family-friendly activities and includes a residents' lounge complete with bar, kitchen, iPod station, game tables, darts, billiards, Wii and PlaysStation, golf simulator, two-story gym, running track, spa, playground, cinema room, and tennis and basketball courts. (Oh, and did we mention the indoor and outdoor pools?) The building also offers 24-hour doorman and concierge services as well as a bicycle storage area.

Monarch homes, many of which feature terraces offering views of the Palisades, start at $322,000 for a one-bedroom (650 to 924 square feet) and about $450,000 for a two-bedroom (900 to 1,400 square feet). The building is now open for sales, and about 50 of the 162 Monarch residences are currently in contract.
