American Girl Scrubs Outfit Sales Benefit First Responders Children's Foundation

American Girl will donate one doll craft activity book to the foundation for every doll scrubs outfit sold.

American Girl’s #ThankYouHeroes Program aims to give back to first responders working to keep us safe through the First Responders Children’s Foundation. For every #ThankYouHeroes doll scrubs outfit sold, the doll company will donate a doll craft activity book to the foundation to make a child smile. This initiative is part of Mattel’s “Play It Forward” campaign, in which Mattel brands raise awareness of relevant causes like coronavirus relief. Your child can nominate a local hero in her life and win a custom-made American Girl doll in the hero’s likeness too through the “Heroes with a Heart” contest, which will run until June 26.

To submit to the contest, have your child submit a photo of their favorite frontline hero and telling American Girl how the hero is supporting your community. Five grand prize winners will receive a custom American Girl doll (to be gifted to the frontline hero), and a $200 American Girl gift card for the child. The winners and their dolls will be revealed in August, according to Red Tricycle. Nominate your hero now!

American Girl is also giving away a doll face mask for free beginning in mid-June, and to each child who visits a reopened American Girl store. The New York store is closed for now, but you can make your own face mask at home by following American Girl’s handy DIY guide on the Stay & Play hub, which provides families with fun activities to do in quarantine.

The doll craft activity books American Girl donates to the First Responders Children’s Foundation will total up to $135,000 in value.

“At American Girl, we’ve always celebrated the idea of acting with courage and compassion,” Jamie Cygielman, General Manager of American Girl, told Red Tricycle. “That’s why we’re proud to honor dedicated healthcare workers and other heroes who play critical roles in helping our friends, families and communities every day. Partnering with First Responders Children’s Foundation enables us to support the children of these heroes and provide a platform to recognize their dedication and service.”

Mattel offers another way to support frontline heroes through its action figure collection, which includes 16 toys: four doctors, four nurses, four EMTs, and four delivery drivers in varying genders and skin tones, as well as the four-figure Little People Community Champions set from Fisher-Price.
