Orthodontic Practice Opens in Whitestone

Avenue Orthodontics, owned and operated by husband-and-wife duo Abraham Chahine, D.D.S., and Eleni Michailidis, D.D.S., recently opened in Queens. The orthodontic practice in Whitestone offers services for children, teens, and adults.

Husband-and-wife duo Abraham Chahine, D.D.S., and Eleni Michailidis, D.D.S., received their dental degrees from Columbia University and each completed orthodontic residencies in New York before opening Avenue Orthodontics in Whitestone in November.

Dr. Chahine, who is board-certified, spent his training treating children and adults in underserved communities in New York City. He was also vice president of Columbia University’s chapter of Smile Train, an organization that raises funds for surgeons to repair cleft lip and palate worldwide.

In addition to receiving her dental degree from Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Michailidis holds master’s degrees in public health and orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, and has also received numerous awards for research and excellence. Dr. Michailidis also has a deep connection to the location—she grew up in Whitestone and was active in the neighborhood’s Greek community.

The orthodontists see patients of all ages, whether it’s for space maintenance procedures, surgical orthodontics, Invisalign and other types of braces, or innovative services such as AcceleDent, an orthodontic device, which Dr. Michailidis says can significantly speed up treatment through the use of gentle micropulses.

Avenue Orthodontics offers complimentary consultations for all. Early treatment options for young patients are available to provide a better understanding of possible dental issues and whether a child can benefit from orthodontic care.

Comfort and compassionate care are of utmost concern for the doctors, who have treated a range of children at their practice, including those on the autism spectrum and kids with severe dental phobias.

To accommodate busy parents and families, the office is open on weekends and stays open late several days a week.
