Bank Street Summer Camp Opens Brooklyn Heights Location

Bank Street Summer Camp is opening a Brooklyn Heights location for its summer day camp for kids. The camp is also participating in the August Alliance, which offers summer programs in August, when there are fewer programs available.

Bank Street Summer Camp is announcing its move into burgeoning Brooklyn Heights and will offer some its most popular programs. The day camp will be held at Mary McDowell School.

Campers entering kindergarten and first grade can join the camp’s five-week Starfish program, from June 29-July 31. Campers will discover the city through field trips to museums and zoos and have structured swim instruction.

“We’re excited because we know Brooklyn has an incredible amount to offer these kids,” says Dylan Morgan, the camp’s assistant director. “The trips alone are phenomenal and the school is a beautiful facility.”

In the camp’s Spanish immersion program, counselors work to build the campers’ Spanish language skills. “The counselors have gotten really good at identifying how to work with the individuals and challenge each child,” Morgan says.

During the five-week musical theater program, campers will put on a production of Into the Woods under the guidance of experienced acting instructors.

Weekly options for campers in second grade and higher include a S.T.E.A.M program and the All-Stars program, in which campers can dabble in sports.

The camp also offers many after-camp options from 3-4:30pm throughout the week, including classes such as Improv Theater and Lego time.

For the first time, the camp is providing weekly programs through the August Alliance for children in pre-K through eighth grade in cooperation with Columbia University and the Cathedral School. Programs will run during the last three weeks of August, when fewer programs are available. Activities will include swimming, trip days, and outdoor play, as well as ESL, Spanish immersion, and special effects in film. August Alliance programs will meet at Columbia Kraft Center in Manhattan.

Bank Street Summer Camp’s rolling registration is now open, and camp costs $475 per week.
