Camp W Plans a Variety of New Programs for Summer 2019

To kick off its fifth year, Camp W is going all out with an exciting array of new features and programs that are sure to reign in the summer in style. Located in Melville, New York, Camp W is an eight-week day camp committed to providing a safe, fun, and enjoyable summer experience for kids ages 4 to 14. This Camp caps its admissions at 375 campers and aims to build close relationships with every kid.

This summer, Camp W will begin on July 1 and run for eight weeks until August 23. Campers have the option to enroll in a two-week, four-week, six-week, or eight-week sessions. Hours are Monday to Friday from 8:45am-3:30pm, and for a weekly $35 fee kids can participate in early care starting at 7:30am and late care ending at 6pm. Transportation to certain neighborhoods will also be available.

New to Camp W this year are an entertainment lounge with two large TVs and eight wireless headphones, a Lego room modeled after The Lego Store in Manhattan, and a water village complete with a slip-and-slide and a makeshift car wash walk-through. Campers can also show off their spinning skills at weekly DJ lessons, and those in grades 6 to 8 can try out for a new baseball team. Every Wednesday, campers in grade 12 will take day trips to play laser tag, tackle rope courses, and partake in other activities outside camp.

The final week at Camp W will also look a little different this summer. Daily field trips to amusement parks and entertainment centers will take place every day. On the last day of camp, kids can participate in a moving up ceremony to commemorate their transition into a new grade.

It’s a lot to get excited about, but what Camp W Owner and Director Evan Wofsy is most eager for is to see the kids’ reactions.

“That’s why you do this,” he says. “It’s like an emotional high. It’s not just a business. You want to make kids happy. Kids aren’t happy in school. They’re happy in camp.”
