Camps R Us Day Camp Expands to New Queens Location

Camps R Us has been running a summer day camp for the last 25 years, with multiple locations across Nassau County, including Baldwin, Bellmore, Farmingdale, Hicksville, Valley Stream, and West Islip. This summer the day camp is expanding into Floral Park, Queens.

Children ages 3-15 can attend, and are grouped together based on the grade they have completed the year before. Camp runs for eight weeks every summer, starting this year on June 27^th and ending August 19^th.  Executive director Gary Turnier says children can attend for as little as one day of one week to every week for eight weeks. Camp runs from 8:40am-5:10pm, with extended hours from 7:30am-6:00pm.

“Camp is very structured,” Turnier says. “Children change activities every 50 minutes.”

Daily activities include indoor/outdoor sports, arts and crafts, swimming, bowling, an arcade, special events, field trips, and shows, Turnier says.

“We are always planning new things and field trips change year to year,” he says.

For example, this year Camps R Us is expanding their Cru fit program, which is like CrossFit for kids. Children learn exercises, stretches, and nutrition on a weekly basis, Turnier says.

“We want kids to move and exercise and make sure they’re doing exercises properly,” he says.

Registration for Camps R Us is now open and a holiday discount campaign called Give The Gift of Camp is running through December 31^st. In addition, parents received sibling discounts for each child they enroll.
