Celebrities are Livestreaming with Neuroscientists to Support Teen Mental Health

Adam Lambert, Rainn Wilson, Jameela Jamil, and more will join brain health and neuroscientists to have candid conversations about teen mental health.

At a time like this, many teenagers are uncertain about their futures and it's causing added stress and even severe anxiety for some. Their graduation ceremonies have been uprooted, their first semesters at college have changed drastically, and their futures are up in the air right now. Leading mental health organizations and celebrities like Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel, Ke$ha, and Liam Payne are teaming up for a 3-day livestream event to ensure that teenagers are not alone during these unsettling and uncertain times. Stronger Than You Think, kicks off today from 5pm-7pm and will continue May 28-29 at the same time. All sessions will be available on YouTube after they air.

The event will feature candid conversations with more than 60 celebrities and powerful youth who are speaking out about mental health during this global pandemic, live musical performances, and advice from mental health experts. It will all be hosted Kelly Osbourne, Laurie Hernandez, Jordin Sparks, and Jennie Mie.

You can livestream all three days of Stronger Than You Think on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch (@STYTorg), Instagram, and TikTok (@STYTorg).

Celebrities from a myriad of avenues— including Taraji P. Henson, Rainn Wilson, Jameela Jamil, Carli Lloyd, Brandon Marshall, Kevin Love, Adam Lambert and Lil Yachty—are joining several brain health and neuroscientists from a variety of mental health institutes and organizations to discuss mental health issues and the science behind stress. Mental health professionals and researchers include Josh Gordon, director of the National Institute of Mental Health; Tom Insel, co-founder of NEST Health; Kafui Dzirasa, Duke professor of neurobiology, and Michelle Craske, UCLA professor of psychology, psychiatry, and behavioral sciences.

The livestream event is kicking off the greater Stronger Than You Think initiative, supporting wellness and mental health for teenagers. Celebrities will discuss their battles with mental health and provide advice for teenagers struggling to deal with the coronavirus crisis.

The event is sponsored by the national mental health nonprofits One Mind and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (or NAMI). Brandon Staglin, the president of One Mind, was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teen and used his recovery to build awareness for mental health initiatives and is going to appear on the stream as well.
