Here's where you can see the best cherry blossoms in NYC.

What better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than by seeing all of the beautiful cherry blossoms in NYC that are blooming all around the area? Though Washington DC is the mecca for U.S.-based cherry blossoms, New York City and the surrounding areas have their fair share of the pink-petal beauties. Here are some of the best cherry blossoms in NYC to take in, from Central Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to Riverside Park and Snug Harbor.

On the Upper West Side, right along the Hudson River, Riverside Park is home to a 4-mile path lined with cherry blossom trees, dubbed Sakura Park. A part of this esplanade, referred to as the Cherry Walk, goes for 25 blocks from 100th to 125th streets.

2. Roosevelt Island

Located in the East River, between Manhattan and Queens

Located in the middle of the East River, this small piece of land is seemingly buried within beautiful cherry blossoms. They create the perfect frame for Manhattan skyline family photos. Maybe the best part is the fun kids have taking the red tram across the river, making their way over to the tree-lined island.

3. New York Botanical Gardens

2900 Southern Blvd., the Bronx

While there are year round events to take advantage of at this New York sanctuary, nothing beats visiting when the spring flowers are in bloom. The 50-acre land is home to many of the area’s oldest trees, quite a few of them being cherry blossoms for the fam to enjoy.

4. Brooklyn Botanic Garden

990 Washington Ave., Crown Heights, Brooklyn

The annual Sakura Matsuri Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is sadly on hold this year, but you can still walk around the gardens—and you won’t want to miss the tree-lined Cherry Esplanade. The garden has more than 26 varieties of cherry blossom trees, which bloom through mid-May. Check out this spring bloom tracker right on their website.

5. Snug Harbor Cultural Center

1000 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island

Spanning across 83 acres, this is a cultural center and botanical garden nestled by cobblestone streets. Here you’ll find the Chinese Scholar’s Garden, and among many other meaningful elements, the best chinese blossoms.

6. Flushing Meadows-Corona Park

Between Grand Central Parkway and Van Wyck Expressway, Flushing, Queens

This park has an expansive display of cherry blossoms blooming all around, from the Astro View Towers to the Queens Museum, to the former World Fair’s site, to the Queens Theatre.

7. Central Park

Fifth Avenue to Central Park West, 59th to 110th streets, Manhattan

The 2022 Cherry Blossom Festival will be held Friday, April 22, 2022.
