Educational Center Launches New Program for Kids with Special Needs

Comprehensive Consultation Psychological Services, P.C., a neuropsychological, developmental and educational center, is set to launch a multi-sensory instructional program design to aid children with learning disabilities at their Forest Hills location.

Sanam Hafeez, Psy. D., the founder and Clinical Director, explained that the multi-sensory approach will be used when the conventional method of teaching isn’t working and children need to learn through multiple senses, whether that be reading and listening or reading and watching visuals. “It’s not tutoring, it’s teaching strategies. When they go back to school, they will have this extra arsenal in their academic toolbox,” Dr. Hafeez added.

Dr. Hafeez is a neuropsychologist as well as a state-certified school psychologist. She works to diagnose anything from ADHD to depression, as well as being a liaison for children in finding the right learning setting.

“We’re designing this individually around students with learning disabilities and then within those students, we’re tailoring the program to each specific student,” says Dr. Hafeez said. “Most student programs can’t identify, diagnose, or treat learning disabilities, and we can.”

With this program, children will receive a free assessment with a school psychologist prior, followed by the 3-week or 6-week program, and then a progress report and another conference with a psychologist. The program is set to launch on July 5th.
