Craftree, A Crafting and Sewing Studio for Families, Opens

Craftree opened this past August as a place to teach kids how to sew and craft. Realizing that there was a shortage of local places for kids to craft in their area, moms and founders Kelly Donovan and Jennifer Tullo decided to put their skills, sewing and party planning respectively, to good use. “Parents are always hungry to find activities and inspiration for their children,” says Tullo

Projects are seasonal and topical. Children can make their own trick-or-treat bags for Halloween, sew their own cooking aprons for Thanksgiving, and can make their own holiday gifts in December.

Craftree also hosts parties, group play-dates, and, mommy & Me classes where children and parents learn to sew together and leave with something to be proud of-their own completed, hand-made objects, like infinity scarfs.

Teen night at Craftree offers older kids a fun opportunity to hang out without parents in a safe and creative environment. “It’s also a way to help them create their own style,” says Donovan. Wearing something unique, or accessories that they made by hand “empowers them to make their own fashion.”

Class schedules and drop-in open studio times are listed on the website.
