Williamsburg Kids’ Salon Offers More Than Cute Cuts

Edamama Cute Cuts and More, a hair salon for kids, recently opened in Williamsburg. The salon, which also acts as a birthday party location, has an in-store children's bookstore and café.

At Edamama Cute Cuts and More, children have the option of sitting at one of four different stations to help them relax for their hair cut appointment. The stations include Octopus, Mermaid, Yellow Submarine, and Shark.

With its official opening in September, Edamama Cute Cuts and More is a new children’s salon in Williamsburg that offers more than just haircuts. Since its soft opening in June, Edamama has catered to children and parents through its variety of features including an in-store children’s bookstore and café for parents. The hair salon also offers free story time, classes, and birthday parties.

“What’s unique about us is that we are specializing in kids,” says owner Eda Bilir-Messner. “There are lots of attractions here that help with the process of easing the kids into the haircut experience.”

When children first enter the salon, the bookstore and café are available to help create a relaxing environment. Once comfortable, the child can then choose to sit at one of four stations, Octopus, Mermaid, Yellow Submarine, or Shark. A movie is also offered during the haircut with the parent’s permission.

Edamama also provides services for children other than hair care. Story time is offered Saturdays at 10:30am and Sundays at 11:30am. The salon also invites local children’s authors and illustrators to come and share their books with kids.

The salon offers a variety of classes including French Music & Puppet for Toddlers, an introduction to French for children ages 9 months to 3 years through dance, puppets, and more.

Edamama’s birthday party packages are 2½ hours of Under the Sea themed activities. Each package features lunch service, a customized birthday cake, and a goodie bag.
