Eggo Waffles Recalled for Listeria Contamination

Eggo Waffles Recalled for Listeria Contamination

Parents, this time you may want your kids to in fact, “Leggo their Eggo!” There has been a 25-state recall of the tasty Kellogg Company brand breakfast staple – Eggo Waffles - due to a possible contamination of the listeria bacteria as per ABC News.

The widespread 10,000 case recall is for the Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles only at this time and affects the 10-count packs with a “use by” date of November 21, 2017 and November 22, 2017.

No reports of sickness have been reported to date, but the listeria bacteria can cause major infections, possibly leading to death in some cases. Mostly, listeria affects newborns, elderly people, women who are pregnant, and those with compromised immune systems. As per CNN, symptoms include high fever, severe headache, abdominal pain, stiffness, and diarrhea. It can cause miscarriage and stillbirth for pregnant women.

If you have any packages of this particular Eggo product in your home, don’t panic, simply toss the remaining items in the trash and/or contact the Kellogg Company for a full refund at 1-800-962-1413 or go to their website for more information. Call your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about your family’s health.

You can still safely enjoy the other tasty Eggo Waffles varieties such as Chocolatey Chip, Froot Loops, Drizzlers, Banana Bread, and even the seasonal Pumpkin Spice. No other Eggo Waffles varieties or any other Kellogg Company products such as their breakfast cereals are in danger of the listeria bacteria contamination.
