Take a Free Music Lesson During Teach Music America Week

March is Music In Our Schools Month, and to celebrate, the National Association for Music Education is offering each new student one free, 30-minute music lesson during Teach Music America Week from March 21-27.

This is the second year of Teach Music America Week, which was created by Vincent James—founder of Keep Music Alive, a nonprofit to support music and music education. This organization aims to keep music alive and inspire a new generation of musicians.

“The purpose of Teach Music America Week and Keep Music Alive is to help remind us how important and valuable music is and all the reasons why,” James said in a statement. “By sparking musical interest in these new students, we will collectively help ensure that quality new music is created for future generations. As an added bonus, we will also be helping to develop their minds for many successful careers outside the arts.”

Students of any age interested in learning an instrument are encouraged to find a music teacher or musician participating in Teach Music America Week to receive the free lesson—especially because many schools are cutting music programs and arts education.
