Now in its 9th year, Groundwork Hudson Valley will be celebrating Earth Day with its annual Great Saw Mill River Cleanup. Nine sites alone the Saw Mill River will welcome volunteers from across lower Westchester to help remove trash.

The event will be happening the April 21- 22 from 10-1pm and volunteers will visit each of the nine locations. On Saturday, April 21 sites include Woodlands Lake in Irvington, Bridge St. in Ardsley, Lawrence St. in Dobbs Ferry, Farragut Ave. in Hastings, and the following sites in Yonkers: Hearst St., Odell and Executive Blvd., Walsh Rd./War Memorial Field, and Van der Donck Park/Larkin Plaza. Sunday, April 22 will be at 115 Fairview Park Dr. in Elmsford in front of the Liberty Coca-Cola plant.

Each year volunteers help remove thousands of pounds of trash from the area. Bean, who are bringing kayaks to the Woodland Lakes site in Irvington,” states the official press release.

"I'm delighted to be working with Groundwork Hudson Valley to put on the 9th year of this fun event. The often forgotten Saw Mill River is so important to Dobbs Ferry, and we are proud to be part of its revitalization -- for recreation and for the natural habitat. I'll see everyone out on the river!" said village Mayor Bob McLoughlin in a press release.

A free beer or soda, provided by City Perch at Rivertowns Square in Dobbs Ferry and Yonkers Brewery in downtown Yonkers, will be offered to all volunteers after the event. Frisbees and water bottles will be provided by Ridgewood Savings Bank.

"The Dobbs Ferry Sustainability Task Force encourages the community to celebrate Earth Day by joining in Groundwork Hudson Valley's Great Saw Mill River Cleanup. We are delighted to be a part of this joyful annual event that brings neighbors together to make the river substantially cleaner and healthier," said Nina Orville, Chair of the Dobbs Ferry Sustainability Task Force in a press release.
