Hebrew Academy of Nassau County Partners with the Allied Foundation for Diaper Drop Box Charity

The Allied foundation is working to assist families with diaper-need.

1-in-3 families struggle with diaper needs. Of those families, 3-in-5 miss work or school due to lack of sufficient diapers to send their child to childcare, daycare, or early childhood education programs. The Allied Foundation is combating this issue by distributing thousands of diapers to those in need throughout New York. Allied launched its “Diaper Drop Box” effort at the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County (HANC) preschool in Plainview where children who were successfully toilet trained celebrated by donating the diapers they no longer need to those less fortunate.

The Kick-off and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony occurred on November 14 at the preschool. The day was chosen to coincide with National Kindness Day, which happened one day prior. Kerry Gillick-Goldberg, director of communications & community engagement of the Allied Foundation said, “Especially at this time of year… it’s wonderful that you’ll be joining us to teach our littlest family members what it means to be kind to others.”

“Diaper need” is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy. This currently affects millions of U.S. families. In a recent poll by Huggies and the National Diaper Bank Network, 73 percent of respondents said they felt they weren’t being good enough parents when their children are left too long in a dirty diaper. 1-in-3 households in need experience stress or feel overwhelmed by diapering always or often.

Diaper banks are located throughout the United States at hospitals, religious institutions, schools and more to help families struggling with diaper need. You can help by donating to your local Diaper Drop Box or by getting your community involved and hosting a diaper drive.
