Snap a Photo with This Hippo Ballerina for a Chance to Win Free Tickets to Lincoln Center

Have you ever wanted to meet a hippo ballerina? Well soon you can take a photo with one!

Starting Feb. 7, a bronze sculpture titled Hippo Ballerina (pictured above) will be on display at Dante Park, across the street from Lincoln Center on 64th Street and Broadway, as part of NYC Parks’ Art in the Parks program, according to a press release.

Hippo Ballerina was inspired by Edgar Degas’ statue called Little Dancer Aged Fourteen and the dancing hippos in Disney’s Fantasia. If you take a photo with the sculpture and post it on Instagram, use the hashtag #dancewithhippoballerina for a chance to win two free tickets to watch a ballet at Lincoln Center. The contest will run from Feb. 7 through March 31.

The art installation was created by Danish artist Bjørn Okholm Skaarup to accompany his exhibit called Bronze Creatures Great and Small on display at Cavalier Gallery in Midtown West. This exhibit features more than 12 other acrobatic animal bronzes, including a cheetah riding a scooter and a kangaroo hopping on a pogo stick. It will be on display through March 17.

The contest to win tickets to see a ballet at Lincoln Center may end in March, but the Hippo Ballerina will be at Dante Park through July 31. For more information, visit the Hippo Ballerina sculpture's official Facebook and Instagram pages.
