According to BabyNames.com founder Jennifer Moss, Liam sprang to the No. 1 spot in 2012 when actor Liam Hemsworth was rising to stardom. Thanks to the Hunger Games movies, Hemsworth has stayed in the spotlight, and so has his moniker. Parents are also using popular character names from fiction, especially television. Moss says the name Aria/Arya hit the top 10 names for girls after the television shows Pretty Little Liars and Game of Thrones both featured popular characters with that name.
