The PGA Jr. League team golf registration is now open for the 2018 season throughout the New York area. Children ages 13 and under of all skill-levels can learn how to play golf and enhance their skills in a supportive environment under the guidance of PGA and LPGA Professionals. The program also teaches children about good sportsmanship and building confidence.

“PGA Jr. League is a fun, welcoming, and engaging way for boys and girls to learn and play golf,” said Metropolitan PGA Section Executive Director Jeff Voorheis in a press release. “We are delighted that PGA Professionals, as well as LPGA Professionals, are inspiring a lifetime of love of the game for the players and their families.”

In 2017, the PGA Jr. League saw a 16-percent increase in registration numbers, with a nationwide total of 42,000 boys and girls playing on 3,400 different teams—80 percent of those players were beginners.

PGA Jr. members will have access to a variety of different perks. Courtesy of National Car Rental, players will be provided with gear such as team jerseys for home and away games, and access to an online merchandise shop.

Additionally, scholarship applications are available to players in need. In 2017, PGA REACH—PGA America’s charitable foundation—along with partner DICK’S Sporting Goods, a scholarship program was launched and helped more than 400 kids participate in PGA Jr. League.

A handful of golf courses and clubs in the New York metro area are currently participating in open enrollment, meaning families don’t need to have an existing relationship with the golf course in order for their kids to participate:
