Your Kids' Art Could Be Featured in an International Exhibit

Children in grades K-12 who live in the New York City area are invited to submit orginal art pieces to the No Boundaries Art Show presented by Columbia University. The program was designed to foster global awareness and social responsibility in young children around the world and this year's theme is "One Tree, One City," which aims to encourage exploration of the bond between cities, trees, and nature through art.

"The tree is a universal symbol of life, energy, and hope. In 2018, we hope to explore the relationship between trees and cities through art, which will help us appreciate the rich biodiversity of our planet and realize the importance of preventing deforestation and preserving the environment," says the website.

Submissions are being accepted until June 1, 2018 and if chosen the work will be displayed in galleries in Beijing, Paris, Nairobi, New York, and Rio de Janeiro beginning in July 2018. In each of these cities the artwork will be accompnaied by educational workshops on lectures on the theme.

You can submit your art online and the guidelines are as follows:

  • Materials: Painting, including gouache, watercolor, oil painting, Chinese painting, wood block painting, etc.
  • Size: The maximum size for each painting is 100CM x 100CM.
  • Each attendee is allowed to submit up to three artpieces.

Teachers or museum educators are also encouraged to submit on behalf of a group of students. All the artwork will be placed into an online gallery and you can see last year's art here.

The No-Boundaries committee was started by a former student of Teachers College, Columbia University, Baitong Yan, who wanted to create an international platform with the aim to educate citizens through art.
