Library on Wheels Coming Through Queens

Library on Wheels Coming Through Queens

Readers rejoice! The Queens Library will be making stops through Queens this week to celebrate National Library Week. The tour began this Monday at 9am and will run until Sat. April 16. This year’s National Library Week theme is “Libraries Transform.”

At each Queens stop along the way, local area residents can borrow books of all genres from the mobile library or get a library card to come visit the Queens Library after the tour is through. Along with bunches of books to read and enjoy, families can take in live performances and events traveling with the mobile library on wheels such as LEGO learning and a special violin concert.

The Queens Library CEO, Dennis Walcott hopes the city approves funding to keep some of the library’s branches open every day. Reading is fundamental for kids and adults alike, so this tour is sure to bring awareness to the importance of libraries in the community. Reading is educational, inspirational, and a great escape to anywhere in the world. A love for reading at a young age can turn a child into an avid reader for life!

Make plans with the kids to be in the area to visit the mobile library sometime this week and be sure to spread the word to help keep the funding coming for more events like this in the future and availability of libraries in the area for years to come.
