'MTV’s 16 and Pregnant' Star Makes Controversial Statements About Going on ‘Dates’ With Son’

MTV's 16 and Pregnant star posts controversial statements on Facebook about going on "dates" with her 6-year-old son.

This mother and son family dinner comes with a lesson in chivalry: reality TV star Nikkole Paulun posted a picture on Facebook showing her 6-year-old son, Lyle Drummonds, opening his wallet to pay the bill at a restaurant and explained that he treats her to a dinner date once a month. According to Paulun, Lyle saves his allowance money to treat his mom to a special meal once a month.

The duo has a strict “no electronics” policy at the dinner table. Not only is she teaching him good manners, but the dates are also a great time for mother and son to catch up, connect, and enjoy each other’s company. She is teaching him that it is rude to sit on your phone in company, and how to be respectful to women and waiters, Paulun explains.

“He opens doors for me, pulls out my chair, talks about his day and asks me how mine was,” Paulun wrote, “it’s so cute.” Not only have the dinner dates brought the mother and son closer, but according to Paulun, the lessons in manners are sticking. Lyle has become increasingly polite with other people, classmates, and teachers.

However, the post is not without controversy. Many people feel it is inappropriate for Paulun to make little Lyle pay for the dates with his own money.

We would love to hear your thoughts?
