The Waldorf School of Garden City Begins Spring Semester of Parent and Child Classes

The Garden City private school will offer a variety of fun activities to facilitate bonding between parents and their little ones.

The Waldorf School of Garden City will begin its Spring semester of parent and child classes the week of March 18 and will run to mid-June. Designed for kids ages 1-2, these classes are available every day Monday through Saturday. The weekday classes will be held from 9-11am or 11am-1pm and the weekend classes from 9:30-11:30am.

The new parent and child classes typically consist of activities such as baking, free play snack time, circle time with songs, games, movement activities, and outdoor play. Parents can partake in a discussion of various topics such as discipline and learn about the Waldorf approach.

“It’s a very calm, a very soothing environment where a child is not overwhelmed by activities,” says Admissions Director for Early Childhood Carol Proctor.

Housed in a sprawling, 11 acre campus in Garden City, Long Island, The Waldorf School is an independent college preparatory institution serving nursery to grade 12. Its educational philosophy is based on the teachings of Austrian thinker Rudolf Steiner, founder of Anthroposophy, who proposed that students’ academic, artistic and practical learning should take a holistic approach. At The Waldorf School, an emphasis on intellectual advancement is met with a focus on character growth. Following this integral approach, students have gone on to attend renowned four-year institutions, such as Harvard, Yale, Vanderbilt, University of California, Berkeley and New York University.

Before enrolling, parents may contact The Waldorf School to schedule a time to tour the classroom and learn more about the program.
