Young People's Day Camp in Queens to Offer New STEM and Robotics Program

Young People’s Day Camp in Queens will offer a new STEM enrichment program beginning in July. The premium enrichment STEM program will run from July to August, a total of four weeks. The program will consist of an elementary introduction to the fields of science, technology, engineering and math through a series of exciting, educational, and fun projects.

Each week will have a different theme including bridges and towers, cars, trains, planes and rockets, introduction to robotics, and forensic science. In the introduction to robotics section, campers will learn how to build a working robot and will also be taught an introduction to coding and application to robotics.

The mission of Young People’s Day Camp is to grow children intellectually, physically and spiritually in a fun environment. The programs are perfect for children ages 4-15, and each camp is operated by licensed teachers and administrators. The camp also provides free transportation, including both pickups and drop-offs, as well as lunch.

The camp philosphy is "to ensure a safe and memorable camp experience by combining a diversified program of physical activity (swimming, sports, arts and crafts, nature and science, etc.), with the excitement of trips, shows, and special events," according to Jim Corleto, executive director of Young People's Day Camp of Queens.

Young People's Day Camp of Queens offers 2-8 week programs with no hidden costs, only a small deposit when enrolling. The camp is licensed to operate by the City of New York Board of Health and is inspected twice each summer.

Open house will beheld this Saturday, June 16 at JIB Lanes Bowling Alley in Fresh Meadows from 1pm to 3pm. For more information please visit the Young People's Day Camp of Queens website.
