Hootenanny Art House Opens 7th Avenue Location in Park Slope

After 10 years of growing the beloved Hootenanny Art House on 15th Street, Pete Sinjin and Kira Smith are thrilled to be opening their second location, just for ART: the new Hootenanny ART Annex! They are happy to continue to bring Art to the Park Slope community in the former Brooklyn Design Lab space, at 413a 7th Ave.

The Art Annex will have 6 days a week of art, with classes planned for 15 month olds with their caregivers through 8th graders. Hootenanny art teacher extraordinaire Hannah Kasper Levinson really took the Hoot Art Classes to the next level over the last couple years, and when the lab space opened up, Kira and Pete knew they needed to give Hannah a place to let the Hoot Art flag fly!

Hannah’s Toddler Art Play classes are a wonder to behold! If you sneak in you will see a room full of wide eyed toddlers and their caregivers, quiet and enraptured, engaged with everything from shaving cream on a mirror table to tiny trucks being driven through pools of paint to make tracks down 10 feet of paper. Not to mention sand, flower petals, paint and potions! Hannah will be teaching littles in the morning and after school classes for pre-k through 3rd in the afternoons.

Kira and Pete wrangled the best and most brilliant art crew together to join Hannah and teach everything else. From textiles for 4th through 6th graders to comics and photography for 5th through 8th graders. Pete will be making an appearance at the Annex too, to teach some drawing classes, when he’s not busy playing the guitar and singing with the littles at the original Hootenanny. The crew has lots of ideas up their sleeves, such as Weekend Open Studios and Grown Up Craft Nights. As always, they are open to community requests.

Hootenanny Art House on 15th is buzzing away as well getting ready for Fall with Music Together, Canta Y Baila, Yoga, Early Childhood Development Classes, and Big Kids Percussion, Keyboards, Ukulele and Voice!

Classes start September 15 and registration is open now at hootenannybrooklyn.com.
