Cindy Goldrich, Ed.M., ACAC, says she saw a lack of support for parents of children with ADHD, so she started her own parent-coaching program to give them the guidance they needed. She founded PTS Coaching, which stands for Pathways to Success.

On Oct. 5, Goldrich published a book titled 8 Keys to Parenting Children with ADHD, which shares her knowledge on ADHD as well as compassionate and effective strategies for raising a child with ADHD. The book is available for purchase in bookstores and on Amazon.com.

“I recognize that kids with ADHD are not going to take a linear path to their future,” Goldrich says. “They may take longer to get there, explore, and figure things out.”

Goldrich offers coaching for parents in both workshops and individually, training for kindergarten through 12th grade teachers, and training for others who wish to become parent coaches. She stresses the importance of parents and teachers understanding how to communicate with children with ADHD and how ADHD impacts children’s behavior and learning. With that information, caregivers are able to personalize strategies for each child with ADHD and involve the child so they can begin to understand their own challenges, Goldrich says.

“ADHD isn’t a challenge of skill, it’s a challenge of interest and behavior,” Goldrich says.

Goldrich also teaches an accredited live webinar course over 10 weeks that provides others with the skills to coach parents of children with ADHD. The next course, Calm and Collected, begins Nov. 2.
