    If you’re looking for a fun day trip for your family or a weekend away, Lackawanna County, PA is a historic destination that is a less than 2-hour drive from New York City—and has plenty of family-friendly things to do for all four seasons. There are kid-friendly museums, vibrant theaters showcasing local and world-renowned artists in family-friendly performances, fun seasonal festivals, and historical attractions that everyone will love. For those families who have a touch of cabin fever, winter is a great time to visit Lackawanna County, PA, as there’s downhill skiing, snowboarding, snow-tubing, and ice-skating. Here are the top six things to do in the family-friendly Lackawanna County, PA.
       

    Electric City Trolley Museum

    Do you know how Scranton became known as the Electric City? Find out, by visiting the Electric City Trolley Museum, a great interactive museum for kids. Plus, the kids can experience what it was like to ride on a trolley in the 1920s.
       

    Steamtown National Historic Site

    Train-lovers will adore this national park chock-full of technology and train history. A good option is spending an afternoon combining the Steamtown National Historic Site and the Electric City Trolley Museum.  
      

    Electric City Aquarium & Reptile Den

    The newly opened Electric City Aquarium & Reptile Den is proving to be a big hit with locals and tourists. Kids can feed the sting rays, visit with the sharks, and watch a catch fish feeding. The aquarium is located inside the mall, so it’s a great excursion before or after shopping.
