Launch Math and Science Center Offers New Workshops

Launch Math and Science Center is offering new camps and workshops in the fall for children who are interested in math and science. Some of the new workshops include discovering the mathematical principles needed to build structures capable of withstanding nature and video game programming.

Launch Math and Science Center Robotics CampersRockin Robotics camp is a hands-on program in which campers build robots of increasing complexity.
By the end of camp, each child has an autonomous roving vehicle that can navigate around obstacles
and provide countless hours of fun beyond camp, as each camper takes their robot home with them!

Launch Math and Science Center is bringing new camps and workshops focused on learning and enjoying math and science to children on the Upper West Side in the fall. Launch is not just a math instructional center, it is a place for kids to spend their time after school or during the weekend, building creations while learning about math and science. The center offers one-on-one time at home or at the center and classes at the center seven days a week for children pre-K to eighth grade.

“Math is the flagship program at Launch, but the science courses have really blossomed, and children have become very intrigued by what we offer,” says rocket scientist Scott Heifetz, founder and director of Launch.

Some of the new workshops offered this fall will be “Build it Up, Break it Down,” which allows kids ages 6-8 to discover the mathematical principles necessary to build structures capable of withstanding the forces of nature, and a video game programming workshop for kids age 8-13.

“We are here to get children excited about math and science and go beyond just learning to inspire. From the material we cover to our passionate instructors, Launch is really a science and math museum for kids,” Heifetz says.
