Welcome to Fontanetta Neuropsychology PLLC, located in Huntington, NY. Our mission is to provide our patients and their families with accurate diagnoses, an in-depth explanation of their child’s cognitive profile, and recommendations for treatment and future success. As a pediatric practice, we largely serve children and adults ranging from 12 months through 26 years who are experiencing cognitive, academic, social, emotional, or adaptive limitations.

Dr. Rebecca A. Fontanetta is a board-eligible pediatric neuropsychologist who received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology with a concentration in neuropsychology from Nova Southeastern University. She completed her clinical psychology internship at St. Vincent Neuroscience Institute-St. Vincent Hospital and fellowships at both Mass General for Children at NSMC and Stony Brook Medicine. Originally from Long Island, Dr. Fontanetta specializes in the evaluation of children with brain based-behavior disorders. She underwent clinical training for ADOS-2 administration at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain at Weill Cornell Medicine. She has particular interest in neurodevelopmental, behavior, and psychiatric disorders in children. She also has experience in pediatric psychotherapy and applied behavior analysis. Dr. Fontanetta aims to serve as a diagnostician and guide for the next steps of your child's journey.

A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation includes all possible domains of cognitive assessment including intellectual functioning, attention/executive functioning, academic achievement, learning and memory abilities, visual spatial skills, motor functioning, language abilities, social/emotional functioning, and adaptive functioning. Specific measures employed will vary depending on age, ability level, education level, history and referral question. A typical comprehensive evaluation will last between six and eight hours. In situations in which parents desire a professional explanation of results to the Committee for Special Education (i.e., CSE) and additional advocacy for appropriate placement/services in the school setting for their child, they may request Dr. Fontanetta be present at the child's CSE (e.g., 504, IEP) meeting to serve as an advocate for the child by promoting understanding of the child's strengths and weaknesses as it pertains to the effect academic success within the school environment.
