Submit Artwork to Bideawee Animal Shelter's Contest by Feb. 2

The contest is open for students in grades 1-12, who can submit drawings, sculpture, and photography.

Kids in first through 12th grades in the New York area can now submit artwork to Bideawee Animal Shelter's 12th annual Love Your Pet art contest. Last year, hundreds of pieces were submitted and five students were chosen as winners in five different age categories. Winning artwork is decided by public vote, and the contest helps foster a love of animals across Long Island and the five boroughs.

Students in first through eighth grades can submit drawings, photography, paintings, and sculptures. They can mail or drop off physical artwork at Bideawee's Westhampton adoption center (118 Old Country Road). The first 300 entries submitted will be on display on from Feb. 8–13 at the Westhampton location. Meanwhile, older students in grades nine through 12 are invited to submit photography online, and these submissions can be viewed from Feb. 5-13. All artwork must be submitted by Feb. 2. Prizes will be awarded to students in five age groups: grades 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-9, and 9-12.

“The bond between children and their pets is undeniably special. Bideawee is always looking for unique ways to celebrate the unique relationship between pets and their owners. Our “Love Your Pet Art Contest & Expo” gives young artists a creative outlet where they can express their special feelings for their pets while showing off their talents," says Bideawee president Leslie Granger. "We hope you’ll visit us at the Westhampton Adoption Center and online, to see these extraordinary displays of creativity and love.”

Bideawee, which means “stay awhile” in Scottish, is one of New York’s oldest animal welfare and pet adoption organizations, with locations in Manhattan, Wantagh, and Westhampton. The Love Your Pet contest's mission of community involvement is similar to Bideawee’s mission of creating services such as adoption centers, animal hospitals, pet therapy programs and pet memorial parks: to connect pets and pet lovers on their lifelong journeys.
