Drive-in Movie and Concert Festival is Coming to Yankee Stadium This Summer

I'll bet you can't name a more iconic place to watch a drive-in movie or concert.

Summer is around the corner, and movie theaters, concert venues, and many of our other favorite summer spots in NYC are still not open with no certainty as to whether or not they will. On the positive side, venues all over the tri-state area are getting creative with the fun they can safely offer us and New York restaurants are getting creative with their take out and delivery options (Some even have to-go cocktails!). One way New Yorkers can still have a fun summer is through the comeback of the drive-in movie trend, allowing families all over the tri-state area to enjoy movies and even concerts from the comfort and safety of their cars. Uptown Drive-In, a festival-like experience that combines drive-in movies and live-music concerts, is coming to the parking lot of Yankee Stadium this summer and it's bound to be an NYC cultural series every New Yorker will remember.

Starting in July, Uptown Drive-In is slated to happen every weekend this summer. The drive-in movie and live-music concert combo will feature local NYC artists and car side dinner service from the New York street vendors we all know, love, and miss. Visitors can also participate in interactive games, raffles, and giveaways.

What makes this event so unique is that you can enjoy all the entertainment from the comfort and safety of your car. The stage will be lifted for optimal viewing and you will be able to listen to the MC, performers, and hosts through your car radio, MASC Hospitality Group's Marco Shalma told Time Out New York.

“Since we were planning on having the Bronx Night Market, the Bronx Beer Festival and Uptown Epicure Festival running this summer, which was supposed to start in May, we already had a lot of great options available. Everyone is so excited about the possibility of connecting sooner [at this new experience] than initially planned," Shalma told Time Out New York.

Each weekend, Uptown Drive-In hopes to offer a 'date-night' experience on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays as well as a family brunch series on Saturdays during the day. Until then, check out these at home date-night ideas.

Prices for Uptown Drive-In are still being determined, but we will update you here with more information as soon as it becomes available. Tickets can be purchased online and, with the help of sponsors, MASC Hospitality hopes to be able to raffle a number of tickets as well. The MASC Hospitality team is working with NYC and state officials to make the event affordable for as many New Yorkers as possible, Shalma told Time Out. For updates on the event and to be the first to know everything there is to know about tickets, prices, availability, and dates,  join the Uptown Drive-In waitlist here.

While this isn't the Yankee Stadium in the summer New Yorkers are used to, creative and fun events like this one are what makes living in New York so special.
