NYC Summer Youth Employment Program Applications Are Open

NYC Summer Youth Employment Program Applications Are Open

Applications are open now through April 23.

The New York City Department of Youth & Community Development's Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is back this summer and applications are now open. You can apply by going to application.nycsyep.com, by calling 311 now through April 23.

The program offers paid, career exploration opportunities and work experience to ages 14-21 over the course of the summer. There are currently 70,000 opportunities available through SYEP. de Blasio had suspended the program last summer due to budget cuts and replaced it with Summer Bridge.

"I can't say enough about how the summer youth employment program has changed my life and opened new doors of opportunity to me," said Norma Gottschalk, a student at the High School for World Cultures in the Bronx and a former participant of SYEP. "SYEP is the perfect complement to what I had just learned in school."

Norma says she learned how to write a resume, the importance of getting to work on time, how to dress for work, public speaking, presenting, improved her English speaking skills, and was connected to professional opportunities during her experience with SYEP. Other experiences offered by the program include:

  • Career exploration
  • Project-based learning
  • Work experiences
  • Community building

In order to participate, you must be a resident of one of the five NYC boroughs and be legally allowed to work in the United States.
