American Girl Reveals 2019 Girl of the Year

This year’s girl focuses on bringing people together in person rather than online.

Blaire Wilson, a spunky redhead with a passion for flavor, has recently made her debut as American Girl's 2019 Girl of the Year. Blaire uses her cooking talents as a chef-in-training to bring her family together and connect with people in person. Her story is one that resonates strongly with this upcoming generation of ladies. Though always active in the lives of her friends and family, she has difficulties balancing her time spent online with the time she spends with people in real life.

“Building and maintaining supportive relationships with family and friends is central to Blaire’s story—a message we think is important to champion among girls today,” says Julia Prohaska, vice president of marketing for American Girl. "In an age where families are often striving for quality time together, we hope Blaire inspires everyone to make a New Year’s resolution to connect more regularly with the important people in their lives and make their time together this year really count.”

Along with an 18-inch doll, which debuted on New Years Day, fans of Blaire can also play an online game and read about her adventures in Upstate New York in a chapter book series. There are currently two books available about Blaire and a number of accessories that fit her life on the farm including piglet and lamb stuffed companions and a charming family farm restaurant.
