Beth El Day Camp Unveils STEM, Ninja Warriors, and Tennis Programs

Beth El Day Camp in New Rochelle recently announced three new programs for the upcoming camp sessions. Each course is specially tailored for children ages 3-8. The new classes include STEM, Ninja Warriors, and tennis.

The STEM classes, offered once or twice a week, focus on engaging the senses and building on a child’s a sense of curiosity. “We’re going to teach the story of the three pigs through STEM,” says Julie Rockowitz, director of Beth El Day Camp. “We’re going to do a whole thing on slime. We’ll add more projects regularly so there will be continued enrichment.”

The Ninja Warrior obstacle course will focus on motor planning (the process of determining how to get from one place to another) and coordination skills. The course features natural elements such as logs and branches, and manmade objects like tires. “We really want the children to develop confidence and be able to problem solve,” Rockowitz says.

Beth El is also partnering with the United States Tennis Association to provide basic tennis instruction. One of the main goals, according to Rockowitz, is eye-hand coordination. Kids will get the opportunity to learn tennis once or twice a week.

“We treat every child like they’re our own child. It’s very nurturing and loving here,” Rockowitz says. “That’s not something new, but it’s definitely something you never get tired of.”

Beth El Day Camp is located at 1324 North Ave., New Rochelle. The camp will be open from June 27-Aug.21. For more information visit the Beth El Day Camp website, call 914-235-2700, or send an email to [email protected]. To register, do so online or contact Julie Rockowitz at 914-235-2700 x256 or [email protected].
