Music School of New York City Opens Mineola Location

The Music School of New York City expanded to Long Island in October.

Seven years after its inception, the Music School of New York City has expanded to Long Island with a location in Mineola. The Mineola music school opened in October and offers conservatory-level training to students of all levels ages 3 and older in piano, violin, cello, guitar, and voice.

The Mineola location has four large studios equipped with state-of-the-art Yamaha grand pianos. Parents can observe private lessons from a comfortable waiting area equipped with a microwave and coffee machine.

“Most music schools have very small studios, which definitely separates us from a lot of other places,” says director Natalia Lavrova. “We have a really nice space that is welcoming, colorful, [and] not crammed with small studios and everyone is very much enjoying it so far.”

In the future, Lavrova hopes to add more instruments, as well as group theory, listening, and history classes for children and adults to the Mineola location. An early childhood music program is also in the works.

Starting in spring 2018, the Music School of New York City’s Mineola location will offer piano and violin master classes semiannually. A master class is typically a public lesson with a world-renowned guest artist in which students and teachers watch and learn from each of the performances. Vocal master classes may be added in the future.

The Music School of New York City blends old-world values and classical traditions with an innovative teaching style and an inclusive philosophy. All students are accepted at the Mineola location.

“Our faculty are at the height of their creativity and enthusiasm in both their professional and teaching careers and consider it their personal mission to develop the musical growth and talent of each student,” Lavrova says. “We want each [student] to be able to reach their fullest potential while discovering the magic of music and acquiring great skills, lasting impressions, and memories—and also having fun!”
