Jeté Dance Studio Opens in Port Chester

Jeté Dance Studio opened in Port Chester in August. The Westchester dance studio serves children ages 18 months and older, including adults, and offers classes in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, contemporary, salsa, and Zumba.

Owner and director Stephanie Knox has been teaching in Westchester since 2003 and dancing professionally for 16 years. She decided to open her own studio in Port Chester to serve the Westchester community.

“My philosophy is to teach with a lot of love and compassion,” Knox says. “Correct technique is, of course, important, but so is love and compassion."

Jeté Dance Studio offers classes for adults and children as young as 18 months old; My Grownup and Me classes are offered for children ages 18 months to 3 years old. There are several different levels of ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and contemporary classes (and more) offered for children ages 3 and older, depending on the dance style. Adult classes in ballet and salsa are also offered. Class registration runs on a semester and yearly basis for kids, and class cards and drop-ins are available for adults. 

“A lot of kids need a lot of encouragement. There are a lot of very talented children out there and they seem to lack the encouragement or the can-do attitude. My goal is to draw that talent out of my students, to help them reach their full potential, and to help all kids feel positive about their progress in dance,” Knox says.  

Jeté Dance Studio also offers 90-minute birthday party packages, which include 45 minutes of dance instruction of your choice, followed by cake and games.
